We often spend a considerable amount of money on our kitchens. Not only do we have to fill our cabinets and pantries with food, but we also need appliances and a variety of other tools to make food preparation simple, so it’s no surprise that most of us will choose to save money where we can. The Emerson brand is relatively young compared to its more established competitors, but it is quickly making a name for itself worldwide. Out of nearly 100 reviews on Amazon, over 85% of buyers have given it four star (or higher) ratings.
Weighing in at just over 13 pounds, the Evergrind E202 (see today's price) offers a compact, space saving design that will easily fit under the tightest kitchen sinks. With a ½ HP heavy duty motor and 26 ounce grinding chamber, it offers a functional and reliable choice when affordability is your primary concern.

My Story and Experiences
I bought the Emerson Evergrind E202 Food Waste Disposer about three months ago as a replacement for an identical model that had begun to leak after a decade of reliable and trustworthy service. It’s true that I didn’t use my old Emerson to grind bones or other hard materials, so it’s possible that I didn’t subject it to severe conditions. Nonetheless, I was pleased to have had ten years of service from it. I have a couple of friends who have had their Emerson models for over 15 years.
After the funeral and a suitable mourning period for my old Evergrind, I ordered the Emerson Evergrind E202. Naturally, I was going to stick with a brand that I know and trust. I like this model even better than my old one. When you hold it in your hand, you can feel the weight and heft of the galvanized stainless steel (a sign of excellent construction!).
Installation for the new model was an absolute breeze. The new model fit perfectly into my current sink ring without any issues, and the installation instructions were well-written and clearly laid out step by step. I did not even have to install the upper metal ring. All I had to do was unscrew my old Emerson and screw the new one in. After changing the plugs, I put the drain back on, and it was ready to go. (On a side note, if you do have dishwasher, don’t forget to take out the plug on the side before attaching the drain hose.)
In terms of operation, the E202 gets the job done. Of course, it won’t be grinding bones, but you wouldn’t expect any model with a ½ HP motor to do so. Perhaps my expectations are a bit skewed after listening to the death wails of my old model for more than a year, but this model operates very quietly. It smoothly chews whatever you feed into it, and it’s whisper quiet doing so.
My primary complaint with this model is that it did not come with an included power cord. This is something I hope Emerson will reconsider on future models. I had to spend a few hours of my Saturday going from one store to the next to find a power cord that had the correct electrical rating. Once I had the cord, connecting it to the disposal was easy and straightforward.
The bottom line is that Emerson Evergrind E202 Food Waste Disposer provides capable grinding service, compact design, and simple installation. With this particular model, you won’t have to call on the services of a plumber to get it installed and going. Just pay attention to the provided instructions, and you’ll be able to install it yourself in no time. For an affordable, no frills garbage disposer, this model offers the perfect option.
