My Story and Experiences
Initially what made me pick up the InSinkErator Badger 100 1/3 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal was the price. Since it was marked well priced, I figured I didn’t have anything to lose by giving it a shot. I didn’t have any experience with the InSinkErator brand, but I did need something to replace the busted Waste King rotting underneath my kitchen sink.
It arrived within the timeframe the seller provided, and I was decently impressed when I held it in my hand. It has a good heft to it without being overly bulky, and the construction feels solid. It’s got something called a Dura-Drive induction motor that offers a 1/3 HP when running. According to InSinkErator, a garbage disposal with a motor this size is ideal for a household with 2-4 people in it. The overall design of the unit is pretty compact, and it doesn’t take up too much room under the sink.
My son dropped by later in the day after the Badger 100 arrived, and between the two of us, we had it installed in a little under an hour. It was simple to install, and neither one of us are professional plumbers. My son found several helpful videos on YouTube, and the owner’s manual for the Badger 100 is well-written and easy to follow.
Now that it is in, I’m fairly impressed with how the InSinkErator Badger 100 1/3 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal works. I definitely appreciate the fact that sound dampening materials were used in the construction of the garbage disposer. Even when it’s running, I can carry on a conversation with my kids in the next room without having to scream at each other. Since the sink flange and motor are made from galvanized steel, I expect that they’ll last me for a number of years. Since I’m 86, I don’t expect that I probably won’t ever need another one.
Hands down, I would buy the InSinkErator Badger 100 Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal garbage disposal again. The affordable price and the decent manufacturer’s warranty alone make it a safe investment. I should point out that this unit doesn’t come with a power cord. Since neither my son or I wanted to pay a professional plumber to direct wire it, we had to purchase an electrical cord separately. Other than that, I would recommend this model to a friend.
